University Language Policy
VOCATIONAL SCHOOL & UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
Turkish
Most programs at FSMVU are in Turkish. Students enrolled in programs with a 100% or 70% Turkish-medium instruction are required to either present a C1 Level Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate (B2 for Islamic Sciences) or take 1 year of preparatory Turkish at the FSMVU-TÜMER Language Center. Students enrolled in all social sciences programs must additionally pass an Academic Turkish exam. Students who fail the Academic Turkish exam must take additional courses (Academic Turkish Writing I-II & Academic Turkish Reading I-II) during the first year of their programs.
English
The students enrolled in departments with 30% English-medium instruction are required to attend the 700-800 hours of English courses in the English Preparatory Program of the Foreign Languages Department while the students in other departments with Turkish-medium instruction may optionally attend this program. Furthermore, following the English Preparatory Program, the courses for specific purposes such as Advanced English I-II, and Academic Writing I-II are offered in order to improve the linguistic and terminological competence of the students in the bachelor programs.
Arabic
Students enrolled in the Faculty of Islamic Sciences must pass an Arabic Language Proficiency exam. Students who fail this exam must take 1 year of Arabic Preparatory Class before they can start their program.
GRADUATE PROGRAMS
Turkish

English
The students enrolled in programs with 100% English-medium must present a TOEFL-IBT Score of 84 (or equivalent in Pearson English). No English Langauge Preparatory class is available for students enrolling in Graduate Programs.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Due to regualtions set by the Turkish Higher Education Comission, students who fail to complete their language preparatory classes within a maximum of two years will have their registrations cancelled by the University.
